My plan is to have both of those lenses, and I already have the 70-200mm/f2.8 Z. On the F mount, I also have the 70-200mm/f2.8 AF-S VR ii (but not the latest FL; hence I went for the Z version) and the 80-400. Since I shoot a lot of wildlife, the 80-400 and something even longer is very useful. To me, the 80-400 is a great lens for whale watching.
